35 Lessons in Critical Thinking: Think Like a Debater
Hello, I’m Xu Fei.
At last, Pang has made the debate program I have long awaited, and I am thrilled to recommend it.
After years in music, I ask only that my speaking might sound as good as my singing. Again and again, after conversations or arguments at work, I reproach myself: “If only I had said that,” or “If only I had not put it that way.” Regret has no cure. I deeply envy and long for the ability to ask a precise question and offer a calm rebuttal. That is why I never tire of watching Pang and Zhan debate.
Life’s fog and noise leave us disoriented. Who would not prefer early-autumn insects and soft rain, or endless grassland and blue sky? Yet whose real life is free of conflict? That makes Pang’s debate program irresistible right now.
Pang combines brilliant intelligence with delightful persuasiveness and a systematic teaching ability tested by countless excellent debaters. On the surface she teaches debate; underneath, she teaches us to observe closely and recognize clichés, prejudices, and faults in ourselves and others.
I hope her new program helps more listeners like me. May we think tirelessly, shape our minds through learning, become more open, critical, and dialogic, and gain strength together.
