How Social Ecology Influences Personality

Hello, I’m Wang Fang. A confession: I am a fan of the band Omnipotent Youth Society. Today’s title comes from a famous lyric in their song The Heart-Wrenching Joke and the Long Daydream: “Who came from mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas, yet is confined by day and night, the kitchen, and love?” Every time I hear it, I feel freedom and openness.
If day and night, kitchen, and love represent time, daily life, and emotion, then beyond these trivial routines lie vast mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas. My professional instincts connect this to psychology. Mainstream psychology and popular understanding are usually restricted to individuals and what occurs inside them. We constantly examine events within an isolated brain: an action, a thought, an emotion, then another emotion produced by the first. That is,our focus remains everyday behavior and feeling and other everyday behavior and feeling that influence them.It is as though we live inside a self-created bubble where we are both influencer and influenced, neglecting the world outside. The perspective is too small. Some researchers therefore look beyond intimate days, kitchens, and love to broad mountains, rivers, lakes, and seas.
For personality, traditional psychology emphasizes proximal environments such as heredity, physiology, family, and school. Yet people think, feel, and act within political, economic, religious, climatic, and geographical contexts (Oishi & Graham, 2010). A research approach calledsocioecological psychologyassumes that these distant, macro-level, objective factors also shape personality (Oishi, 2014). Specifically,a social ecology defines the adaptive tasks people must complete, and personality may be the collection of behaviors used to address and solve those tasks(Sng et al., 2018). Realities outside the mind directly influence psychology and behavior and may form clusteredpersonalities of an eraorgroup personalities.”。 
We observe systematic personality differences across periods, countries, and regions, with particular personalities clustering in particular times and social contexts. In 2005, a large study compared Big Five traits in fifty-one countries. Mainland China appears near the lower-left of the transcript graph: relatively introverted and low in neuroticism overall (McCrae & Terracciano, 2005).

    特别喜欢看理想APP，也特别喜欢听王芳老师和道长的节目，因为无论是王老师还是道长，都会在节目中告诉我们，每一个人都不是自己一个人，每个人都是整个社会的一个分子，应该具有社会责任感，只有大家都具有良好的社会责任感，才能促进整个社会的良性发展。请记住“我”不止是我自己，“我”也是一名世界公民！谢谢老师们，祝新年快乐！

    雄性重视“播撒”，雌性重视“收集”！这是刻在生物基因层面的底层逻辑，也可以称之为“基因思想钢印”。 在现代社会，受阶级分层的影响，一部分雄性的基因播撒不出去，相应的一部分雌性也收集不到繁衍后代所需的资源。那么二者只能被迫找出相应的“代偿”方式。 比如，大家都用追逐多巴胺的“性游戏”模拟繁衍。现在女性诟病的渣男海王如此之多的原因，正是因为他们只是想获得多巴胺，并不打算真正的繁衍。（此处单独说吴亦凡等顶流渣男，他们不是没有能力播撒，只是迫于形势不能播撒而已）。这也就是为什么很多女性对于男性喜欢整容脸而百思不得其解的原因了，因为男性只想多巴胺的欢愉，并不在乎这个所谓优良基因的真假辨别啊😂！ 再比如女性，女性对繁衍基因的代偿是极大的丰富，这个丰富包括物质、精神两方面。拥有和收集大量的物质，让雌性有了一种自己可以很好的生存的安全感，而各种女权主义，女性闺蜜扎堆互助组织，也让女性有了一种不依赖繁衍不依赖家庭也可以获得精神满足感，其实也是一种多巴胺的欺骗。 以上都是迫于外部环境压力，做出对繁衍后代的基因的欺骗过程。但其实，欺骗基因的本质还是对基因的顺从啊。

    对于VUCA时代的看法我有疑问，记得刘瑜老师在看理想的课程提过，这段时期是人类少有的较长时期的和平时期，人类的寿命和财富其实是有难得较稳定的增长，所以经济学家和政治学家对这个世界更好了更坏了是否有不一样的认知呢？

    181****6944 ：刘老师说的主要是近20年，算是最近的过去吧，这里说的VUCA指的是最近的未来趋势，又要从少有的和平稳定逐渐下滑了

    感觉今天这一部分的心理学和社会学密不可分，深入到一定程度后不同的学科就自然会相互交融，深到一定程度后广度自然就扩展了，上升到我们都想了解自己，了解人类，了解整个世界。心理学真有意思，看理想真的给予我的太多了
