A serious, healthy exploration of women’s sexuality
This is Vistopia’s first program devoted to sexuality, created to fill gaps left by inadequate sex education. From menstruation and menopause to pleasure, pain, desire, consent, and medical care, it begins from women’s bodies and lived experience.
Women are surrounded by distorted fragments of information. Pain is normalized, pleasure stigmatized, wanting feels unspeakable, and saying no can demand even greater courage. What is missing is a scientific and humane guide from women’s own perspective.
A language of our own
Sexual-health researcher Chanchan brings together sexual medicine, psychology, and sociology. The course discusses anatomy, orgasm, masturbation, fantasy, orientation, sexual interests, low desire, violence, painful sex, satisfaction, relationships, pregnancy, disability, and aging without sensationalism or shame.
It considers the body, the mind, and culture together. For younger women it offers an entrance to body and desire; for mature women, a place to reconsider intimacy and boundaries; for women in pregnancy or menopause, a guide through bodily change; and for older and disabled women, recognition of sexuality too often erased.
Let women’s sexuality return to women. Reconnect with the female body and use real experience to dissolve manufactured anxiety and fear.
— Chanchan
Sex is more than intercourse. It concerns our relationship with ourselves, with others, and with the world. May we live in our own bodies with ease, fulfillment, and freedom.
